My webspace hosting provider had an harddrive failure which resulted in me losing all new work updates, blog entries, likes, and comments since March. Without notification!
That combinded with several downtimes, old server software, and slow website speed was reason enough for me to change my hosting provider. I had to invest almost two days to make this change and get everything up and running again. The comments and likes are gone though. But this wasn’t without a lesson ā i’ll now run the backups myself! :)

Just saw my inbox at Deviantart … 3581 messagesĀ … first i thought it’s a bug but on closer examination i realized my image Ā»FruitsĀ« got featured as a Daily Deviation on Deviantart … woah!Ā I’ll now make myself some coffe and start reading through all the nice comments and messages i got … š
EDIT: Over 30 000 views and counting šÆ
EDIT2: Got featured as an Editors choice on the CGSociety facebook page too. Awesome!

I was following a tutorial from Digital-Tutors and this is the outcome.
It was my first time using mudbox ā very cool and mighty program!
Finally finished and tidied up the last remaining parts of my new website.
WHAT A PILE OF WORK THIS WAS! (Pareto Principle anyone?)
… and i might have a coffee addiction now.
Altough, I kinda knew how much work I had in front of me cause this wasnāt the first website I set up. I really liked my last one. I mostly coded it from scratch in a texteditor. PHP, Javascript, CSS, everything. But sometimes you have to kill your darling. It was simply too much of a hassle to update or making sure it gets displayed correctly on every device, browser, and operating system. It also didnāt scale as well on devices like smartphones and tablets as this one. Thankfully this is now taken care of by WordPress ā a wonderful open-source content management software. And with this comes many goodies, like various plugins and a ton of built-in functionality.
This is actually the first time I do have a blog. It has taken me til now, the year 2014, to start a blog and, voilĆ , here it is. I wonder how often it will get updated though. But I will try my best to not letting this place get in a abandoned and sad state. Instead I will try to fill this place with finished and/or semi-finished stuff. Weāll see how it goes.
cheers,
manuel
